Paintings

I have a fascination with the unspeakable between people. The family photo where we stage ourselves and the life we wish to live, as a cover for a reality that may be very different. Where we participate in contexts that are at once banal and yet deeply cryptic, indecipherable, and incomprehensible to those who do not know the background of the image.
The moment is captured in the photo – seemingly harmless on the surface – but what hides behind what we don’t understand?
Like when you sleep and dream – a recognizable reality – but often distorted, alienated, and incomprehensible. On the verge of tipping into a nightmare. Our unconscious haunting us as we try to rest.

And it is in this unconscious state that I find my inspiration – In my sleep.
